Philippe Véron elected president of the Association of Carnot institutes

Philippe Véron, Director of the ARTS Carnot Institute, was unanimously elected president of the Association of Carnot institutes (Ai Carnot) on November 10th by the Board of Directors.

He had been Vice President of the Ai Carnot since June 2017.

Philippe Véron has been elected president of the Association of Carnot institutes. The association assures the leadership and promotion of the activities of the Carnot network, which regroups 38 institutes located throughout France. The Chimie Balard Cirimat Carnot institute is part of this network of excellence.

Philippe Véron heads, since 2015, the ARTS Carnot institute. He contributed to the reform and internal re-organisation of this institute, as well as increasing the transfer of research to industry, especially to SME.

After obtaining his first degree in Mechanical Engineering at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Hydraulique et de Mécanique of the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble in 1993, Philippe Véron defended his doctoral thesis in the same field in 1997, followed by a habilitation to supervise research students in 2005. He was recruited as an assistant professor at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers (ENSAM) in 1998.

Promoted to Professor in 2007, Philippe Véron works in the field of digital engineering of complex systems at ENSAM. He is also a member of the Scientific Council and of the Steering Committee of the school.

Philippe Véron elaborates: “The network of Carnot institutes is a formidable tool for research at the service of innovation in industry and an important vector for the development of direct relations between industry and the public research institutions. My primary role as President is to support the Carnot institutes in order to reinforce their research partnerships with companies in France and in other countries, as well as promote the recognition and reputation of the Carnot institutes in accord with our results.”
