Frédéric JAOUEN, winner of the Academic Research Prize of the SCF

Frédéric Jaouen, prix de la Recherche Académique 2017 de la Société Chimique de France

The Energy inter-division of the  Société Chimique de France (SCF) has awarded its Academic Research Prize to Frédéric Jaouen, CNRS researcher at the Institute Charles Gerhardt of Montpellier (ICGM).

Frédéric Jaouen, member of the Aggregates, Interfaces and Materials for Energy group of the ICGM (and also part of the Chimie Balard Cirimat Carnot Institute), was recently awarded the Academic Research Prize of the SCF’s Energy inter-division.

This prize rewards the internationally recognised work of Frédéric on the development and understanding of innovative catalysts based on non-noble metals such as iron for the electro-reduction of dioxygen in acidic electrolytes for fuel cells. His ongoing work on these materials since 2004 has led to improvements in the catalytic properties as well as a better understanding of this family of materials, thanks to the use of numerous experimental techniques and fruitful collaborations.

The prize will be officially awarded during a ceremony on Tuesday, 14 November 2017 to be held at the Maison de la Chimie in Paris.
